Description
Drypoint etching of Charles Maurin, monogram upper right, visible plate marks. Best known for his lithographs, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec executed only nine drypoints during his artistic career. Although this composition was executed in 1898, no impressions were printed during Lautrec's lifetime. This impression was published by Henri Floury in 1926 for the rare volume by Maurice Joyant, "Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec Peintre et Dessins - Estampes - Affiches". The plate measures 6 3/4 x 3 7/8 inches and is somewhat irregular in shape, as created by the artist. Plate-signed with the Toulouse-Lautrec monogram.2
