CHINA. Kiau Chau. Nickel Plated Brass 10 Pfennig Token, ND (ca. Early 20th Century). PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. Menzel-4287.1.2. The single finest certified of the type on the PCGS population report with none listed on the NGC census. Obverse: uniformed bust facing forward; reverse: P.H. in center, "WERT-MARKE 10 PFG." ("good for 10 pfennig") around. A bright and lustrous example with nice cartwheel luster and nearly complete intact plating. An interesting issue sure to add depth to the next collection it enters.Made in Berlin as a token for the German colony of Kiau Chau, which fell to the Japanese in 1914.
