Description
This is the four volume (517, 525, 508 & 511 numbered pages, plus a Bohn's library list to the end of each volume) of The Poetry of Geoffrey Chaucer, edited by Robert Bell and published by George Bell and Sons, London. This is a married set, with publication dates that range from 1892 (volumes III and IV) to 2006 (volume I) .
The covers, red cloth with gold lettering, are scuffed but with only one significant stain, a bleed line running the length of the volume IV's spine (see photo). The spines are straight and securely attached.
The first volume has extensive pencil notations, but no indelible marks, no stamps or other attachments. Some pages are uncut. Volume II has fewer sidelines and more uncut pages. I've found very few notations and mostly uncut pages in volumes III and IV. The bindings are tight throughout, with no loose or missing pages. There are few stains, creases or tears. The accompanying photos are of this copy.
