A George II unmarked silver mounted cowrie shell snuff box, possibly Scottish circa 1730
The shell body with a silver mount with hinged lid engraved with decoration of foliate Baroque scrolls centring with a thistle like form, the hinge joint with a band of elongated octagonals. The tip of the lid engraved with a bird regardant. Gilt interior.
