Description
Ned Burgess (NC, 1868-1958), Goose
Churches Island, North Carolina, circa 1940, painted canvas over wire construction.
Length 21 in.
Ned Burgess is arguably North Carolina's most prolific and celebrated decoy maker. His canvas geese have the best form of all the Carolina makers. They have curved, well proportioned necks and the bill is doweled to the head. This is a very fine example.
