Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, wucai dragon motif porcelain double gourd vase. The Chinese porcelain potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, suspending a tall cylindrical neck, with a straight opening lip, raised on slightly short splayed foot base and slightly concave. All reserved in hand painting ornamentations, rendered in clean white under glazed ground color which contrast against the wucai design color. WuCai or five-color shades and tones, brightly painted in WuCai design, Opaque colors around the exterior, between the filling motif decorated in colorful vivid sgrafitto ground of uptala. The double main belly adorned with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a vivid tones color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. The middle and the upper mouth rim decorated with geometric pattern and flowers blooms. And the neck festooned many Shou Chinese calligraphy enclosed with thrashing wavy lishui water. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
