Description
Lot of 11 18th-19th Century antiquarian books, including:

1. Butler, Samuel. Posthumous Works in Prose and Verse, Written in the Time of the Grand Rebellion, and Reign of King Charles II. London: Printed for S. Briscoe, 1716.
Small (16mo) volume bound in full calf with gilt details; four raised bands on spine, missing leather backstrip in three of the five panels; covers scuffed and rubbed; rear cover has large horizontal tear in leather exposing the board; corners bumped and worn; bookoplate on front pastedown. While the binding is very weak, the pages within are secure and clean. Missing the first of two title pages, which would have indicated that this is the 4th edition.

2. Palissot, M. Oeuvres Complettes de M. Palissot, Nouvelle Edition. Paris: A. Londres; Chez Jean-Francois Bastien, Libraire, 1779. Volume one only.
Small (16mo) leather volume; front cover and endpapers detached but present; rear cover missing; cover and spine badly pitted and worn; marbled endpapers.

3. Fenelon, Francois de Salignac de la Motte. Les Aventures de Telemaque, Fils D'Ulysse. Paris: Chez P. Theophile Barrois, Libraire, 1775.
Volume 2 (books 12-24) only. Small (12mo), bound in marbled calf; gilt decorated spine with five raised bands and green and red leather lettering-pieces; covers worn and scuffed; edges red; marbled endpapers; each book preceded by plate; plate for book 22 is detached but present; fold-out map; binding good; light foxing throughout.

4. Archibishop of Cambry [Fenelon, Francois de Salignac de La Mothe]. The Adventures of Telemachus, the Son of Ulysses. In French and English; revised and corrected by Joseph Nancrede. Philadelphia: G. Decombaz, 1797.
Volume 2 only. Bound in dark brown tree calf with gilt trim and red lettering-piece on spine; front cover detached but present; text foxed and toned with age.

5. Montague, Lady Mary Wortley. Letters of the Right Honourable Lady M--y W---y M---e: Written During her Travels in Europe, Asia, and Africa, to Persons of Distinction, Men of Letters, in Different Parts of Europe, Which Contain Among Other Curious Relations, Accounts of the Policy and Manners of the Turks. London: M. Cooper, 1783. Complete in one volume.
Bound in dark brown calf; spine has raised bands; covers and spine very worn with parts of the spine and rear cover rubbed through to boards; hinges weak; text foxed and toned throughout.

6. Burroughs, Stephen. Memoirs of Stephen Burroughs. Boston: Printed by E. Lincoln for Caleb Bingham, 1804. Volume 2 only.
Bound in blind-stamped brown leather; edges and spine very badly worn; boards slightly warped; text foxed, toned, and stained throughout. Scarce.

7. Cumming, C.F. Gordon. Wanderings in China. Edinburgh and London: William Blackwood and Sons, 1900. "Cheaper Edition"
Beautiful dark blue full calf binding signed by Bickers & Sons, Leicester Square, London; gilt border and gilt tooling on edges; spine has five raised bands and gilt decoration in each panel; title stamped in gilt; front cover has crease and some scuffing and is detached but present; all edges marbled; marbled endpapers; former owner's bookplate on front pastedown; binding tight; text clean.

8. Millot, Abbe. Elements of General History. Translated from the French of the Abbe Millot. Part Second. Modern History. Dublin: Printed for Misters Price, Potts, R. Cross, Jenkin, Walker, Flinn, Exshaw, E. Cross, & White, 1779.
Volume 1 only. Bound in original leather; covers scuffed; front cover detached but present; rear cover nearly detached spine may have been rebacked; leather is darker and flaking; edges chipped; endpapers and text foxed and toned.

9. Hunter, Henry, translator. St. Pierre's Studies of Nature. Philadelphia: Joseph J. Woodward, 1835.
Original leather binding, stained and rubbed; edges worn; spine has raised bands and gilt trim; spine edges pulled and frayed; endpapers foxed; text foxed and toned throughout; hinges weak, but binding intact and tight.

10. Hageman, Henricus. Historische Aanmerkingen over de Beide Catechismussen van Dr. Martinus Lutherus. Amsterdam: David Weege and Everhard Smit, 1762.
Full leather binding with gilt stamping on edges; spine has five raised bands with gilt decoration in each panel and title stamped in gilt; edges stained red; original endpapers signs of water damage on upper corners of rear pastedown and last few pages of text; binding tight; text clean except for some toning due to age. Very scarce volume.

11. Mitford, Mary Russell. Our Village. London: Sampson Low, marston, Searle and Rivington, 1879.
Bound in 3/4 red morocco over marbled boards; spine has raised bands, gilt decoration and lettering; marbled endpapers; binding good; text clean. A very nice illustrated edition.
