Description
Indian War Conical Shaped Sibley Tent Stove. Measures approximately 18" at the bottom and 4" at the top and looks like a small Indian Tepee. Capt. Sibley later a Confederate General got the idea and patented the design. In 1856 he patented the Sibley Tent that could accommodate 20 soldiers and their gear. His tent became widely used in the frontier. Sibley also invented the Sibley stove to provide heat within the tent. These sheet iron stoves were in use until the advent of World War II. The stove sat on the bare ground and had dirt place around the bottom the control the air flow. Has a small door in center for feeding the stove with wood. **Not rusted out, in great shape with a brown patina.** $300-$600
