Description

Monumental James S. Earle & Sons (American 1832-1900). Victorian era Rococo Revival giltwood, gesso, and composition overmantel mirror, second half 19th century, having a curved scrolled crest with floral swags centering on a cartouche with a Grecian female mask, caryatid pilasters, and inner beaded fillet, stenciled marks to the back boards. Approx. h. 98", w. 68", d. 11".

Condition

Scattered restorations with some losses to decoration, overpaint, likely later plate with some degrading to lower edge, frame is structurally sound.
