Continental School untitled, 19th century, oil on wooden panel, interior genre scene depicting a man smoking a pipe with candle lantern above, his jacket marked "No. I", apparently unsigned with illegible graphite notations en verso to panel, framed. Provenance: From the Private Collection of the Argenbrights, Atlanta, Georgia. Panel approx. h. 9.75", w. 7.375"; Overall h. 15.25", w. 13", d. 1.5"
Condition
Scattered inpainting and varnish has darkened with a hazy green layer visible under ultraviolet light, paint surface is stable, evidence of previous worming (inactive), damage to frame.
