Description
Pair of French mixed wood parquetry inlaid two drawer commodes or chests in the Louis XV taste, each having a shaped breccia stone top, bronze mounts, and rising on cabriole legs, each marked "Made In France" to the underside of the case. Provenance: From the Estate of Elizabeth B. Pritchett, Atlanta, Georgia. Approx. h. 29", w. 24.5", d. 14".
Condition
Commode A): Chip front right corner of stone top, veneer losses to edges of drawer fronts, right stile, and to knees of legs (finish touched up) with wear to feet. Commode B): Repaired crack to rear left corner with visible chip and repaired crack to front left edge with area of stone loss, finish has been touched up to front right and rear left knees of legs. Both with rough edges/fleabites to stone tops, keys are not present, cases are structurally sound.
