Description
Pair of Indo-Persian style gouache and ink on government revenue notes, the first depicting an embracing couple and the second depicting the god Ganesh with a mouse, each painted on late 19th or early 20th century stamped currency notes reading "Government Stamp Four Annas; and Jaipur Government Court Fee Stamp; Two Rupees", both with handwritten notations, framed. Provenance: From the Private Collection Harry R. Greenblatt, Atlanta, Georgia. Sight approx. h. 12.5", w. 7.5"; overall h. 21.75", w. 17", d. 1".
Condition
Overall good. The painting of the couple has scattered oil stains on the paper, both with toning.
