Description
Soumak (Sumak) rugs construction technique produces a flat-weave rug that is thick, strong and exceptionally durable. Rugs are generally very finely woven and feature richly detailed motifs. Traditionally they were woven in various carpet producing regions, the designs they feature are exceptionally diverse. The northeastern Caucasian district of Dagestan, or Daghestan, and its capital city Makhachkala produced rugs that often included a central field featuring repeated geometric figures in a trellis-like - or diamond - pattern (sometimes striped) flanked by a series of symmetrical geometric-patterned borders. The wool is handcrafted and the coloring of wool is veggie origin and does not contain chemicals. It's a hand-knotted rug that is made with attention and care which make each of Sumak rugs unique artwork to own.The wool is handcrafted and the coloring of wool is veggie origin and does not contain chemicals.
