Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful pendant comprised of modern sterling silver set with a triangular fragment of Roman glass, a faceted white topaz stone, and a Roman copper coin. The glass fragment features rounded corners, rainbow iridescence visible along the verso, and a stunning turquoise hue that is visible even without the aid of a bright light source. Above one corner of the glass fragment is a faceted white topaz stone that glints in the light, and above that is a circular Roman copper coin depicting a woman with one hand atop the head of a kneeling man or child. Size (pendant): 0.55" W x 2.1" H (1.4 cm x 5.3 cm); (cord): 22" L (55.9 cm); sterling silver quality: 92.5% or higher; weight: 7 grams

Wearable as shown and constructed in modern times. Roman glass, coin, and white topaz are ancient; necklace cord and sterling silver setting are modern. White topaz faceted in modern times. Roman glass component is a fragment of a larger composition. Light abrasions and softening to Roman coin, with minor abrasions and surface pitting to glass fragment. Great iridescence on verso of glass fragment, and wonderful color overall.
