New York, Russia, Ukraine, China,1882-1967
Depicts a blue eyed woman with brunette curls gazing into the distance by the ocean bathed in warm light. Burliuk studied at the Kazan School of Fine Arts, in Odessa, Moscow, Munich, and in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Art. His early works were reminiscent of Fauvism which led to him exhibiting with the Blue Riders in Munich, and overall pursued futurism combining multiple styles and subject matters throughout his work. His works are part of numerous collections including the Guggenheim, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and the National Museum of American Art Smithsonian.
Oil on board,Board 8 1/8" x 6 1/8".Frame 13 7/8" x 11 7/8"
Signed and dated "Burliuk 1951" lower left corner.
