Description
The Stations of the Cross or the Way of the Cross, also known as the Way of Sorrows or the Via Crucis, are a time-honored Catholic devotion. Every Catholic church contains images of 14 stations. These depict scenes that commemorate Jesus' journey on Good Friday, the day that he died — from his condemnation by Pilate to his death on the cross. This is the 5th Station (The Cyrenian helps Jesus carry the cross) showing Simon of Cyrene helping Jesus carry his cross. Believed to be early-mid 20th century. Measures 5' x 29" and with wooden frame. Item is located in Houston, Tx.
