Description
A Modern acrylic painting on a hard paperboard depicting a Neo expressionist composition in the manner of Jean Michel Basquiat, American, 1960 to 1988. Circa: 1980s. Inscribed lower left. Probably, dated lower right. Jean Michel Basquiat was an American artist who rose to success during the 1980s as part of the Neo expressionism movement, one of the first African American artists to reach international stature in the art world. His art focused on dichotomies such as wealth versus poverty, integration versus segregation, and inner versus outer experience. He appropriated poetry, drawing, and painting, and married text and image, abstraction, figuration, and historical information mixed with contemporary critique. He used social commentary in his paintings as a tool for introspection. In 1983 he befriended his idol, Andy Warhol, and the two collaborated on several projects. One of a kind artwork.
Dimensions: Paper 13 x 11 in. All measurements are approximate.
