(After) George Morland (British, 1763-1804) 'Selling Fish' Oil on Canvas
Undated, spuriously signed lower right, outdoor genre scene depicting a standing female figure, mounted male figure, a haul of fish and a dog, including water and cliffs in background, in gilt gesso frame having conservator label on reverse
Property from: Private Collector, Wilmette, IL
Height: 16 1/4 inches, Width: 20 1/2 inches (sight)
Frame Size: 22 1/2 inches by 26 1/2 inches
Condition: Good, overall light wear consistent with age and normal use, faint stretcher marks, upper left and lower left quadrants, fine craquelure throughout without lifting or flaking, light dirt accumulation, light wear to frame including finish darkening and cracking, painting having undergone professional conservation by Barry Bauman's The Chicago Conservation Center in 1999 including cleaning, relining, re-stretching and re-varnishing with minimal inpainting
