A signature style, tables with similar sunken panels bordered by a gadrooned and beaded edge over on hipped legs issuing from a central pedestal base was supplied to George Home (1747-1820) for Paxton House, Berwickshire by the Edinburgh cabinet maker William Trotter (d. 1833).

Condition
Structurally sound. Well made. General marks, nicks, scratches, cracking, losses and repairs. Shrinkage cracks across top, as visible in catalogue photos. With fading to top with circular dark patch to center as visible in catalogue photos. With losses to molded edge. Underside batons reset. Caps toned and rubbed, with polish residue to crevices.
