Note:
Cyril Colnik was an Austrian immigrant who came to the United States in 1893 to help the German government with their World's Fair exhibits. He found many commissions among Milwaukee's German elite, including Frederick Pabst, who had built fortunes as industrialists and merchants. The William Bigelow house, built in 1904 in the English Tudor style at 1522 North Prospect Avenue, was designed by Architect Alexander Eschweiler. Eschweiler engaged Colnik to produce grilles for the house's entrance door and surrounding windows. The grilles were removed in the early 1960s before the house was razed.
