Description
Gorgeous rare set of bronze sculptural figural Renaissance Revival Andirons. Each depict the abduction of a Sabine woman after the work of the 16th century Italian sculptor Giovanni da Bologna ( French, 1529 - 1608 ). Subject matter depicts outstretched figures atop a base of stylized caryatids centered by a demonic mask face. Cast iron log holders. No apparent markings.
Dimensions: 37 X 18.5 X 32 in.
Condition: Good to fair overall condition having losses to the finish. Evidence of rust to the log holders. Estate fresh to the market.
