Pre-Columbian, Wari/Huari, ca. 700 to 950 AD. Size 7 1/4 inches high. A fine example of a handcrafted terracotta vessel with polychrome decoration of Shaman faces around the upper portion of the body. Red-brown pigment covers the lower portion of the body. The neck is elongated with a flared opening. Following the decline of the Moche, The Wari (or Huari) Empire emerged as a powerful empire and continued the fine Andean ceramic tradition.
