Description
This is a pair of Adlake round top non-sweating marker lamps from the Columbus Railway and Light Company in Columbus, Ohio. Per our research, this is the only known matching pair to be saved from one of the CRandL streetcars. These date between 1893 and 1904, as this was the only time the railroad was known strictly by the name of “Columbus Power and Light,” per data from the Columbus Railroad historical group. One is cast with “LEFT” and one is cast with “RIGHT” and were placed on opposite sides of the front of the streetcar. Even the stems from the correct long stem burners, exit the lantern door gap on opposite sides on each lantern. Each lantern has a correct Adams and Westlake fount, and is marked “C. RY. and L. Co.” The RIGHT lantern has two red, one amber, and one green lens, while the LEFT has a red, a green, a white, and an amber lens. Both come with the original mounting bracket. Modern brackets like these sell for $175 each on the Adlake website all by themselves. This is the chance for lantern enthusiasts to own a unique piece of Ohio railroad history!
