Description
Featured in this lot are two (2) pair of Children's Cowboy Spurs, circa 1950s-1960s. To be a cowboy in the youth of yesteryear was quite an adventure, and these spurs were sure to have added to the intrigue. First pair are silver aluminum or pewter with spinning star rowels, chap guards, and heel chains. Good overall condition, each of the spurs has rowels with bent or broken spike tips. The next pair are heavier cast designed aluminum or pewter with spinning star rowels, chap guards. One spur has both a heel chain and a studded leather heelband, other is missing both. When the popularity of television exploded in the 1940s and 1950s, Western genre shows like Hopalong Cassidy and Gunsmoke quickly became audience favourites and soon every kid in the neighborhood wanted to be a cowboy. These spurs were part of that seminal generation.
