Meyer Pottery (Atascosa, Texas) poultry fountain, post 1930, buff clay with Leon glaze, size: 11 x 7" dia.
Provenance: A San Antonio, Texas collection
Meyer Pottery is an iconic name in early Texan stoneware, and refers to the pottery workshop founded by German immigrant William Meyer in 1884. During its early years of operation in Bexar County, the workshop supplied glazed utilitarian stoneware to much of the surrounding area of southwest Texas, from San Antonio to the Rio Grande.
