Violin idol of the Kusura Baycesultan type; Anatolia, 2070-2100 BC.

Measurements: 11 x 7 cm.
The characteristic features of these idols are, firstly, that they are between 10 and 17 cm high; secondly, that they usually depict a standing human being; and thirdly, that the female gender is engraved in a triangle. Beycesultan is an archaeological site in western Anatolia, located about 5 km southwest of the present-day town of Çivril in the Denizli province of Turkey. It lies on a bend of an ancient tributary of the Büyük Menderes River (Maeander River).
