Large scale abstract painting by Gerard Leonard van den Eerenbeemt, Dutch, circa 1963, It is executed in oil on canvas with mixed media, and signed to the lower left. It measures an impressive 49.5" width x 41.5" height. It appears to be influenced by Robert Rauschenberg's mixed-media work with a possible nod to Marcel Duchamp with the Ballantine's beer can inserted in the center. The artist was born in Venlo, Netherlands in 1936 and passed away in France in 2011. He studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam, the Academy in Kampen, and the Ateliers 63. He won the Royal Grant for Painting in 1959 and 1960 and in 1959 he exhibited at the Biennale of Paris. His work is in many major museum collections, including The Hague. Condition
Good original condition. Painting shows some overall craquelure and some areas of paint loss. Minor surface scratches, rubs, age spots, and wear, mainly to the outside edges of the frame.
