Ardsley, NY: Haydn Foundation for the Cultural Arts, 1993 First edition, limited to 100 numbered sets. Includes leaves from the 1663 Eliot Bible in Massachusett, the first in any language printed in America (pictured), and from editions in other indigenous languages; the 1782 Aitken Bible, the first complete English-language Bible printed in America; from the first complete Bibles in German, French, Hebrew, and Spanish, and the first New Testaments in Greek, Portuguese, Dutch, and Swedish printed in America; and from various noteworthy English-language editions. Includes a preface by the compiler, and an introductory essay, "The Bible and American Culture," by Mark A. Noll.
