Antique Saltillo Serape Textile 19th Century. This piece has been tapestry-woven to dazzling effect. Two individual panels woven with a cotton warp and a wool weft were then seamed together leaving a central opening for the head. The piece would have been worn like a South American poncho or alternatively draped over the shoulders like a cloak. Size: 2.18 m x 1.51 m ( 86 ins x 59 ins )
