1852 Florida and the Gulf of Mexico Large Foldout Map
1852-Dated Map, "Straits of Florida and Gulf of Mexico to Accompany A Report of the Trade and Commerce of the British North American Colonies", measuring 26" x 34", Choice Extremely Fine.
Large Folding Map titled the: "Straits of Florida and Gulf of Mexico," 1852, measuring about 26" x 34". The United States Coast Survey under A.D. Bache produced this foldout map for inclusion in a report by Israel De Wolf Andrews. The map is a snapshot view of the areas in and around the Gulf of Mexico, including, the Gulf States, the Mexican coast, the Yucatan peninsula, Honduras, Cuba and other Caribbean nations. The border of Texas is noted as the Rio Grande, reflecting the "Treaty of Guadeloupe Hidalgo" having been signed just a few years prior to publication. Light tone along the folds with some trivial small holes at fold intersections; otherwise nice and clean. Impressive for display properly matted and/or framed. This is the first example of this map that we have offered.
