"These receipts for bread making and all kinds of hot cakes, biscuits and muffins, meat, soup, fish, vegetables, sauces, salads, ices, desserts, pudding, pies, cakes, preserves, pickles, wine, coffee, tea, candy, etc, with miscellaneous receipts for cleaning and renovating, were contributed by some of the first housekeepers of Maryland and Virginia. They have all been tested by Mrs Hollyday by long usage, and are know to be good an economical." - The Bibliographer and Reference List; Vol 1, No 5, Sept 1888, page 107, # 117. Two page list of prominent Contributors. Quite hard to find Maryland cook book by upper class Easton, Maryland resident whose husband served as Secretary of State under six Maryland governors. Mrs Hollyday later compiled the Maryland-Virginia Cook Book (1894). Eleanor and Bob Brown; Culinary Americana; 1223. An extensive and thorough cook book of late 19th century cookery recipes.
