Rectangular, with rounded corners and an inrōbuta (flush-fitting) cover, and fitted with an interior tray, the exterior decorated with a monk's backpack and an axe in a hilly landscape strewn with maple leaves and ivy, and a rippling stream, the tray with a monk's staff and sedge hat by a stream with ivy, bush clover, grasses, and ferns, all in two shades of gold takamaki-e and hiramaki-e with embellishments of inlaid shell, oki-birame, and kinpun, the interior nashiji
