A pair of 17thC 'a la financiere' Limoges painted enamel candlesticks, in grisaille and flesh tones on copper, with gilt details, each depicting a different angel balancing on the globe, the sides showing scenes out of the fable of the raven and the fox, and the fable of the heron and the fish, both by Jean de la Fontaine, the whole surrounded by renaissance scrollwork and playfully decorated with grotesques, satyrs, griffons and foliage, ca. 1680, H 23 cm
