JOHN T. MCCOY, JR. (AMERICAN, B. 1905) AIRPLANE PAINTING, watercolor on paper, depicting two planes racing, signed and dated "JOHN T. McCoy, JR. / 4-38" in the lower left corner, hand-inscribed title on mat piece of "1937 Thompson Trophy Prize, Cleveland" to back of frame. Housed under glass in a modern frame. Dated 1937. 13 1/2" x 18 1/4" sight, 21 7/8" x 27" OA.
Provenance: From the collection of Fred Kaiser, East Sandwich, MA.
Catalogue Note: John T. McCoy Jr. (New Jersey) was a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force reserve, and learned to fly from the Curtis Flying School, Roosevelt Field, Long Island. John was also an illustrator for Pan Am.
