An internationally recognized artist, Lino Tagliapietra has worked extensively in several of Murano's most important glass factories, as well as in the United States, and has played a key role in the international exchange of glassblowing processes and techniques between the U.S. and his native Murano, Italy. He has collaborated with Dale Chihuly, as documented in the 2001 film, Chihuly and the Masters of Venice, and has taught at the Pilchuck Glass School, Washington. Tagliapietra is known for his particularly Venetian sensibility to glass, combined with a global attitude to collaboration to ensure the evolution of artistic vision in glass. His work is collected widely, including by the Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio; Seattle Art Museum; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Founded in 2020, the Lino Tagliapietra Foundation preserves the artistic and cultural legacy of the artist.
