Martin Blank earned a B.F.A in Glass from Rhode Island School of Design and worked with many glass artists, including Dale Chihuly in Seattle, before establishing his own studio in Seattle. Blank's figurative and fluid, abstract landscape glass works evoke a direct connection to natural forms. He continues to push the boundaries of glass as a material in contemporary fine art. Blank has worked with numerous institutions, including the Toyama Institute of Glass Art in Japan, and received many awards and grants, including from the Pilchuck Glass School, Washington. His work has been exhibited widely, and is represented in many museum collections including: the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Honolulu Museum of Art, Hawaii, and the Corning Museum of Glass, New York. Martin is also known for his architectural glass installations including major commissions such as the monumental glass art sculpture installation for the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, and for the Four Seasons Hotel, New York.
