Description
Russian marble, silver and enamel mantel clock by Ivan Abramovich Woberg (И.веберг, И.Вебергъ), made in honor of the Golovin noble family, Saint Petersburg, Russia. The top of the clock is decorated with a double-headed eagle silver sculpture. In the center of the clock, a silver and enamel crest of the Golobin family and below a plaque depicting a military gathering. Above it, the years 1872-1898. The bottom part bears silver plaques engraved with many names, probably noblemen who took part in a military operation. On the back two silver plaques, including one with a scene depicting a military steamship and soldiers in boats and on the other a train and railroad construction. The clock dial is decorated with blue enamel. On the sides of the clock silver inkwells with gilt interior. Height: 43 cm, length: 38.5 cm. The inkwells and the back of the clock case is hallmarked with Russian silver hallmarks and the maker's marks for Woberg. the base of the eagle is marked with Russian silver halmmarks and initials (M.I?) . Very good condition, some flaws.
