A FAMILLE-VERTE PORCELAIN 'FLOWER BASKET' CHARGER
Kangxi period
Decorated with eight floral panels and a medallion of a flower basket at the center, enclosed by a band of scholarly objects over diaper ground at the barbed rim, the reverse decorated with three flower sprays, a blue leaf-form mark within double circle at the base.

Very skillfully restored with original pieces, the charger was broken in half, at least, and reinforced from underside. The enamel paintings in the front are carefully filled in, preserving the free-hand painting quality and remaining truthful to the color pallets. On the back, the lower part of the charger reinforced. Some enamel touch-ups along the break line. Inside the foot ring largely repainted and reglazed, therefore casting doubts whether the Henry Stern Antiques label was original to the piece.


One faint hairline crack to rim, approx. 4cm. Frittings to rim, pin holes to glaze, as typically seen on porcelains of this period.
