This 18th century Catalan "bombé" chest of drawers, made in walnut wood, presents curved forms. Of mixtilinear waist, it rises on four curved legs with final volute. The front has five drawers, two of which are smaller and in the upper band, set back from the rest of the body. The handles and keyholes are made of gilt metal. Formally, this chest of drawers is in a transitional style between late Baroque and Rococo, as the design still retains its straight lines and the decoration continues to be subordinate to the structure. Likewise, the curved mitred forms are still reminiscent of the mixtilinear forms of the Baroque, while maintaining the symmetrical composition. However, the curved front plan that determines a bulge in the elevation is now clearly rococo, as is the predominance of sinuous lines in the decoration.
