Acme Startling Mystery Stories (1960s / 70s) (15 Total). Startling Mystery Stories was created by Robert A. W. Lowndes as a companion magazine to the Magazine of Horror (1963–1971). The magazine is notable for containing the 1st & 2nd ever published writings of Stephen King. Stephen King wrote "The Glass Floor" in the summer of 1967 at the age of 19. It was the first of his submissions (over the course of two years) to magazine editor Robert A. W. Lowndes. King was paid $35 for the story, making this his first professional earnings from writing. "The Glass Floor" was first published in (Vol. 1 No. 6 Fall 1967) (Whole Number 6) and is considered extremely rare as well as valuable. Includes (Vol 1.
