Description

British, 19th century, most with marks for "Bloor/Derby" on base, cobalt borders with gilt foliate and scrollwork decoration, enamel decorated with armorial decoration, comprising: ten dinner plates, 10 in. diameter; eight bowls, 10 in. diameter; two small oblong platters, 8-1/2 x 11 in.; four large oblong platters, 9-7/8 x 13-1/2 in.; one small circular lidded tureen, 6-3/4 x 7 x 5-1/4 in.; one small circular dish, 7-3/4 in.; one oval lidded tureen with interior divider, 7-1/4 x 12-1/4 x 9 in.; one oval shallow dish, 3 x 13-1/2 x 7-1/2 in.; one round dish, 12 in. diameter; one lidded soup tureen, 12 x 13-1/2 x 10-3/4 in.

Note: According to consignor notes, commissioned for the marriage of Charles John Kemys-Tynte of Cefn Mably in Co. Glamorganshire, Wales, and of Halsewell Somerset, and Elizabeth Winnerton, daughter and co-heir of Thomas Swinnerton of Butterton Hall, Staffordshire, in 1821.

all with surface dirt and accretion, crackle throughout, some rubbing and losses to gilding and decoration; four 10 in. plates with hairline cracks; three 10 in. bowls with hairline cracks; two large oval platters with hairline cracks to rim, one large oval platter broken and repaired; small lidded tureen with heavy crackle, two cracks near handles, lid with crack near opening; oval shallow dish with hairline crack to base; 12 in. round dish with area of discoloration to rim; large lidded tureen lid with crack, interior small rim chips
