Paul Tibbets (1915-2007) Pilot. Tibbets best known as the pilot of the Enola Gay – named for his mother – the first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb in the history of warfare. The bomb, code-named Little Boy, was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, and was the catalyst for ending the war. The book, Enola Gay Mission to Hiroshima by Gordon Thomas, Dalton Watson Aero Books, 1988, first edition, signed on a bookplate, affixed to the first blank page. The book and dust jacket are unblemished.
