Europe.- Architecture.- Wild (Charles) Foreign Cathedrals, 12 fine hand-coloured aquatint plates, each image approx. 380 x 280 mm (15 x 11 in), all trimmed to images as issued, mounted on later thin blue card within a ruled black ink border, printed caption slips mounted beneath, tissue guards, loose in original cloth portfolio, upper cover with original burgundy richly gilt label, spine and corners restored in 20th century red crushed morocco, some chipping to cloth, rubbed, [Abbey Travel 93], folio, [c.1826].
⁂ Includes Rouen, Rheims, Chartres, Amiens and Cologne cathedrals. Wild was apprenticed to Thomas Malton, and concentrated on architectural subjects from the outset of his career. His son was the architect James William Wild.
