Description
Bull Terriers inscribed '(? E 859)' (lower left) oil on board 21.5 x 29cm
29.5 x 37cm framed The painting is executed in oil on an artists’ board with a label for Winsor and Newton on the reverse. The support and paint layers are in a good, stable condition overall. There are a few small tiny dents to the paint layer caused by impact. Under ultraviolet light there are some dark brushstrokes on the top of the black dogs had, whether this is artist applied or restoration is difficult to determine. The varnish layer is thinly applied and slightly uneven. There is a layer of surface dirt present which has been partially cleaned, leaving a streaky surface gloss.
