38 volumes, being the complete first series. Each volume a single poem with a color frontispiece. (12mo) string-bound pictorial wrappers; housed in two custom cloth dropback boxes with morocco spine labels lettered in gilt, slipcases. First Editions.



A rare complete run of the first Ariel Poems series. With wonderful frontispieces by the likes of Eric Gill, John Nash, and numerous others. Featuring poetry by Thomas Hardy, T.S. Eliot,  D.H. Lawrence and many other major voices. The Ariel Poems were two series of pamphlets that contained illustrated poems published by Faber and Gwyer and later by Faber and Faber. The first series had 38 titles published between 1927 and 1931. The custom box labels erroneously state there are 50 volumes in the series.
