Description
One gold 1847-O ten dollar liberty head coin featuring on the obverse the bust of Lady Liberty encircled by 13 stars and the year. The reverse with a spread-winged eagle surrounded by "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. TEN D ."
Designed by Christian Gobrecht (American, 1785-1844). Gobrecht was the third chief Engraver of the United States Mint and is famous for designing the "Seated Liberty" designs which were the inspiration for the design of the Trade Dollar.
Provenance: Property from the distinguished collection of Mr. James Lee Soffer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Diameter: 27 mm.
