Biography: Alfred Arthur Brunel de Neuville was born in Paris, France and studied under his father, a landscape and still life painter. After the exhibition of one of his still life paintings at the Salon de Paris, de Neuville garnered even more success by adding the sentimental subjects of domestic pets into his repertoire. These works were in very high demand by the growing middle class of France, and de Neuville enjoyed success both as a popular painter and a respected academic artist as an Associate at the Salon of the Societe des Artistes Francais. His works are included in numerous museums and collections across Europe, North America, and South America. (adapted from askArt.com)
