Description
Northern Europe, England, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. A charming painted molded-plaster roundel featuring the bust of a young boy. Surrounded by a scallop shell motif, the darling youngster turns slightly to his left, peering outwards from squinting eyes beneath arched brows. Fleshy cheeks surround his button nose, sitting just above his gentle smile and round chin, while a thick coiffure of luscious locks crowns his head. His sweet visage is flanked by a pair of naturalistic ears. He is dressed simply, wearing a plain tunic. Size: 10.9" in diameter (27.7 cm)
