A 22 1/2 inch goose decoy made for the Pequaw Honk Club by A. Elmer Crowell (1862-1952), East Harwich, MA. Crowell's oval signature brand is on the bottom as are couple partial "Pequaw Hunt Club" brands. The shooting club was located on Quicksand Pond, in Little Compton, RI. Crowell was known to have hunted there, most likely over his own decoys, as did Mr. R. French of Fall River, MA and the other members. the Club owned a rig of Crowell Geese and a large rig of Black Ducks.In mostly original paint with gunning wear, age cracks and in use repairs, one tack eye may have been replaced, a repair to the base of the neck and old scrapes on one side under the paint. This is one of the best surviving Crowell geese decoys that was used at the club. .Great form.
