Description
Noel Espinoza (Mexican, 20th C.), fisherman navigating, oil on canvas, sight: 20 x 25", frame: 27 x 32"
Noel Espinoza was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. In his signature style he paints with simple beauty the things he knows best: the people and places of Old Mexico. He portrays them in an ideal light, at their best and brightest. Viewed through the eyes of the artist, we share a vision of Mexico as colorful and as vivid as a memory. Espinoza paints in a realist, impressionistic style. Traditional artistic values that have served artists for centuries still have meaning to Espinoza. For Espinoza, the formal elements of art - form, texture, line, value, color - must be mastered and understood as the building blocks of any fine painting. Espinoza envelops subjects in a rich atmosphere of light and color. Espinoza's paintings and sculpture are represented in many private and corporate collections in this country and abroad. He has been honored with more that eleven one man exhibitions at the El Paso Public Library, Americana Museum, Oklahoma City University and he has exhibited frequently in group exhibitions regionally and nationally.
Provenance: A San Antonio, Texas collection
